Summary: The story unfolds at Roberts Funeral Home, a struggling family business owned by the slick-talking Linus Roberts. As he and his loyal assistant Florence prepare for the visitation of Beatrice Lewis, a series of mishaps set the tone for an evening of chaos—misdelivered flowers, a risqué urn inscription, and a missing priest thanks to a pickleball tournament.
Beatrice’s estranged family arrives: her bitter children Malcolm and Alice, Malcolm’s tipsy wife Eliza, her self-absorbed sister Ruth with her much-younger boyfriend James, kind-hearted niece Evelyn, and Clara Daniels, the lawyer tasked with reading the will. Tensions explode when Clara reveals Beatrice left her $2 million fortune not to her greedy family, but to Florence, who is shockingly revealed to be Beatrice’s secret daughter.
The revelation of inheritance ignites a storm of jealousy and desperation. Florence quits her job, Ruth and James break up, and the Lewis siblings plot to reclaim the money.
